We have a large and active Junior Section and will always provide a safe and friendly environment in which all juniors can enjoy the game. In 2008, in recognition of our commitment to juniors, Easingwold Golf Club was awarded the coveted ‘Golfmark’ by the English Golf Union.

Coaching: With the help of Alastair Grindlay, our Club Professional, we offer various coaching courses throughout the year. These courses offer the opportunity to meet other juniors as well as to improve your game. At the beginning of the season we offer group coaching free of charge, but Alastair is always on hand to give individual coaching if required.

Getting a Handicap: We have a ‘Blue Tee Course’ for those of our younger members who might wish to play a suitably shorter course. Club junior handicaps range from 54 to 29 for boys, and 54 to 37 for girls. All Juniors aged 12 and under at the time of joining are given a club handicap of 54. This handicap may then be reduced by playing in Junior competitions, or by playing nine holes from the blue tees. Junior boys may, in fact, choose to play from either the blue or the yellow tees, and junior girls may play from the blue or red tees.

Competitions: Junior competitions are held throughout the year, details being published on the Junior Notice Board. There are matches against other sections of the Club and against other local junior teams. In addition, there are Exchange Days which enable you to play at other courses, helping you to develop your golf. For the younger members, or for those just beginning, we hold ‘Flag’ competitions which will help you to develop your abilities. An event not to be missed is the National Skills Challenge, which is held at Easingwold. This involves golf’s five basic skills and is a great help in developing everyone’s game.

Christmas Party 2017

The Junior Section enjoyed their first Christmas Party at the clubhouse on Saturday 16th December. First up was a chipping competition run by Simon Morley from the Pro Shop. A seemingly impossible task of reaching distant buckets with foam golf balls was effortlessly achieved by the youngsters, and prizes were awarded. On to the turkey sandwiches and chips, followed by Fudge brownies and ice cream, then Magic performed by our very own Rory Vince! Finally, Secret Santa 'wrapped' it up, and a great time was had by all!
