JUNIORS

We have a large and active Junior Section and are committed to continually providing a safe and friendly environment in which all juniors have an equal opportunity to enjoy and experience all aspects of the game of golf. In recognition of our committment to juniors, Easingwold Golf Club was, in  2008, awarded the   coveted  'Golfmark'   by the English Golf Union.

Getting a Handicap

We have a 'Blue Tee Course', with score card, for those of our younger members who might wish to play a suitably shorter course. Club junior handicaps range from 54 to 29 for boys, and 54 to 37 for girls. All Juniors aged 12 and under at the time of joining are given a club handicap of 54. This handicap may then be reduced by playing in Junior competitions, or by playing nine holes from the blue tees. Junior boys may, in fact, play from either the blue or the yellow tees, and junior girls may play from the blue or red tees. To be given a national CONGU handicap of 0-28 for boys and 0-36 for girls, you must submit three 9 or 18-hole cards. Boys  must have played from the Yellow tees, and girls from the Red.

Coaching

We are pleased to offer various coaching courses throughout the year, with the help of John Hughes, our club Professional. These courses give you the opportunity to meet other juniors as well as improve your game. At the beginning of the season we offer group coaching free of charge, but John is always on hand to give individual coaching if required.

Competitions

Junior competitions are held throughout the year, and details are published on the Junior Notice Board. There are matches against other sections of the club and there are matches against other local junior teams.  In addition, there are Exchange Days which enable you to play at other courses, helping you to develop your golf. For the younger members, or for those just beginning, we hold 'Flag' competitions which will help you to develop your abilities. An event not to be missed is the National Skills Challenge , which is held at Easingwold. This involves golf's five basic skills and is a great help in developing everyone's game.
